Class 2
Library Trip 2025
We arranged a visit to our local library alongside a number of our parents. We took the bus which was highly exciting to the children, and this provided opportunities to enhance care of our community, and mathematics development, as the children looked for numbers of the buses and matched it to the bus stop. On the journey we sought out local landmarks, and talked about numbers and letters on road signs.
Children have a love of reading and storytelling, however many were unsure what the library was and offered. We invited parents to attend and sign up their child for a library card, and everyone took the opportunity to take books out for their homes. Storytelling is a brilliant way of enhancing communication, attention skills and having shared interaction.
The children showed great excitement at the amount of books on offer, and loved exploring the new environment. We will definitely be returning.
World Book Day 2025
This year we dressed up as a book character or in pajama's for World Book Day.
The children sat with their key person and read a story brought from home.
Children In Need 2024
This year for Children In Need 2024, we dressed in our pyjama's and had a toy sale to raise money for charity.
Bonfire Night
This week we have been celebrating Bonfire Night and teaching children about fire safety. We have been talking about home experiences and had a bonfire in setting to allow children to understand how to enjoy fire safely in a controlled environment. Each child had a sparkler and the importance of wearing gloves and how to put them out correctly was modelled.
Planting
In the past few weeks, we have been teaching the children all about growth. They have been planting different seeds and placing them in the sun and watered them daily. They have had the opportunity to watch as the plants have been sprouting into flowers and vegetables in the hope of being able to try our own home grown produce.
